At our October 17th meeting Ray Jarrett, Senior Biologist/Urban Forester, from the University of Central Florida presented a very informative program on plants and animals of Scrub Habitat. The following Saturday, 10 Audubon members and guest visited Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve (Martin Dairy Tract) to apply what we had learned from Ray. We were easily able to identify several species of Oak and other indicator species of Scrub habitat. We walked the gas line road to see results of roller chopping then completed the loop back through Scrub Jay Way to Four Corners. We also walked to the Bluffs and the Indian Mound.
